NOURY
From the team behind Kiko, Noury is the newest eastward expression of the sensibility to know deeply where something comes from and the instinct to explore freely how to take the thing somewhere new.
Intimate in scale and warm in its embrace of the simple joy of coming together to dine. Drawing on traditions of the izakaya, but sampling references and beats from elsewhere – the design by Studio Tre reflects this approach.
Materials are earthen – mostly – and the punctuation of cool nickel metal and stainless steel mark the rhythm between these natural surfaces. Most absorbs, some reflects. The Greek key of the antique oxblood mirrors meets new millwork detailing evocative of Chinese huanghuali furniture, sleek chrome monopoint fixtures drape light onto fumed oak and hewn stone surfaces.
Forms distilled to their essential geometry – simple circular chrome sconces and the intersections of planes themselves as the texture. Deep red and turquoise highlights are woven throughout the largely neutral brown, grey, and black backdrop of the architecture.
Old and new, natural and manmade, east and west – stitched together, bound by secret knots.
Smaller footprint, just as expressive – a poem.
light of the moon
moves west – flowers’ shadows
creep eastward
